ISBT Award - Workshop and Training on Quality Management – National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Hanoi, Vietnam, the 8th – 10th of March 2017

Quality management and contentious self-assessment by self-audits and regulatory inspection against legislative framework of blood transfusion services / blood establishments are a key stone in achieving best practices including risk assessment and improvements and guaranteeing the quality and safety of blood and blood components for transfusion of patients. The International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) has given the 2016 Developing Country Award to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and it is an honour to organise a symposium including seminars and training workshops leading ‘From Good practices to best practices’ in blood components and medicinal products referring to GMP assuring Best Practices in Quality Management System and inspection for Blood Transfusion Services / Blood Establishments’.

This symposium is supported by the ISBT Working Party on Quality Management and the EuBIS Academy, which have been linked to several seminars and training on the topic of GMP and International regulation in implementing and harmonising Quality Management Systems.

The European Blood Inspection System (EuBIS) Academy, initiated under the Public Health Programme of the European Commission, has developed a guide and training programme containing standards and guidelines for quality management and the inspection of blood establishment cross-referencing to international GMP standards as well as other significant standards, such as the European blood directives, the PIC/S recommendations and the Good Practice Guidelines (GPG) of the EDQM (Council of Europe).

The International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) has jointly performed training seminars supported by the EuBIS Academy in order to promote knowledge in the area of quality and safety of blood and blood components throughout Europe and worldwide under the mission ‘Defining quality systems in blood transfusion medicine and promoting education and training in Quality Management’
